To avoid doubt this award does not apply to an employer merely because that employer, as an incidental part of a business that is covered by another award has employees who perform functions referred to in points above, or in the classification descriptions referred to in Schedule C of the Award.

This industry award covers employers throughout Australia in the contract cleaning services industry and their employees in the classifications listed in Schedule A—Classifications to the exclusion of any other modern award.
The contract cleaning services industry means the business of providing cleaning services under a contract and includes:
- cleaning (including event cleaning, trolley collection and hygiene and pollution control but excluding trolley collection covered by the General Retail Industry Award)
- minor property maintenance which is incidental or peripheral to cleaning.
Event cleaning means the provision of cleaning, in connection with the staging of sporting, cultural, scientific, technological, agricultural or entertainment events and exhibitions.
The award does not cover an employee excluded from award coverage by the Fair Work Act.
The award does not cover employees who are covered by a modern enterprise award, or an enterprise instrument (within the meaning of the Fair Work (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 2009 (Cth)), or employers in relation to those employees.
The award does not cover employees who are covered by a State reference public sector modern award, or a State reference public sector transitional award (within the meaning of the Fair Work (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 2009 (Cth)), or employers in relation to those employees.
This award covers any employer which supplies labour on an on - hire basis in the industry set out in clause 4.1 in respect of on - hire employees in classifications covered by this award, and those on - hire employees, while engaged in the performance of work for a business in that industry. This subclause operates subject to the exclusions from coverage in this award.
This award covers employers which provide group training services for trainees engaged in the industry and/or parts of industry set out at clause 4.1 and those trainees engaged by a group training service hosted by a company to perform work at a location where the activities described herein are being performed. This subclause operates subject to the exclusions from coverage in this award.

Who do modern awards cover?
There are 122 modern awards that cover most jobs and employees in Australia. Each modern award applies to everyone who works in the industry or occupation it covers. The exception is some managers and employees who earn more than $123 300 a year.
Modern awards don’t apply to employers who are bound by an agreement.

When did modern awards start?
Modern awards replaced federal and state awards (pre-modern awards) on 1 January 2010. They have changed minimum terms and conditions for many employees. The changes vary by state, industry and employer. Most modern awards have ‘transitional arrangements’ which phase in changes to pay rates over 4 years (ending in July 2014). Training Program
We are proud member of cleaning industry training association – the Specialised Cleaning and Restoration Industry Association.
TRAINING
In addition to our company policy any new staff employed by the company, must be enrolled for training within 3 months. The provided training courses consist of safety, chemical hazardous, how to use chemical, machinery operation and other relevant training. The accredited training is delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), such as AOLI with Department of Education & Training.
In completion of the course Employee improved skills lead to higher levels of productivity & safety and they will receive CERTIFICATE II & III IN ASSET MAINTENANCE (CLEANING OPERATION.

Insurance
When you hire on Golden Brown Cleaning Service, rest assured that service providers on GBCS are covered by a $20 million insurance policy covered by QBE Insurance (Australia) Limited.
This insurance policy provides peace of mind when you’re having a task completed for you.
Whilst you’re unlikely to experience any injury or property damage whilst a task is being completed for you, we understand the need for protection. That’s why we worked closely with QBE Insurance to provide all of our GBCS service providers with insurance that covers them for up to $20 million for third party property damage and/or personal injury claims against them.
What is covered?
GBCS insurance covers our GBCS service providers liability for personal injury (bodily injury, invasion of privacy, defamation, assault or battery) and property damage (physical damage, destruction or loss of tangible property or loss of use of tangible property) subject to the insurance policy terms and conditions. Full details of the Policy, its coverage and exclusions including the applicable excess details are available on request.
To the right Below are a list of tasks and services that are explicitly covered under the policy. GBCS Insurance will also cover any tasks not included in this list, other than tasks listed under “What Isn’t Covered”.
The sum insured is up to $20,000,000 for public liability claims (any one occurrence) and $20,000,000 (any one occurrence and in the aggregate during the Policy Period) for products liability claims. The GBCS must pay an excess and full details of the Policy, its coverage and exclusions including the applicable excess details are available on request.
