Incompatibility (Materials to avoid for purposes of transport,

handling and storage only): Avoid all ignition sources. Vapour

may form explosive mixtures with air. Class 3 Flammable

Liquids shall not be loaded in the same vehicle with: Class 1,

2.1, 2.3, 4.2, 5.1, 5.2 or 7 substances.

Exposure Standards: None assigned for product. Data for

Australian Atmospheric Exposure Standards for:

Methyl alcohol = 200 ppm / 262 mg/cu.m

STEL = 250 ppm / 328 mg/cu.m

SK = Absorption through skin may be a significant

source of exposure.

Sodium hydroxide: TWA = 2 mg/cu.m Peak limitation.

Engineering Controls: Use only in well ventilated areas. Local

exhaust and general ventilation is recommended. Use an

explosion proof ventilation exhaust system.

Personal Protection:

Eyes - Wear safety glasses to prevent eye contact. Wear a

face shield if splashing is possible.

Gloves - Wear nitrile, PVC or neoprene gloves. Rubber

gloves are not suitable.

Note: Resistance of glove materials can vary. Evaluate

resistance under conditions of use and maintain PPE

carefully.

Clothing - Wear suitable protective clothing.

Respiratory – Do not breathe vapour/spray/fumes. Respiratory

protection is recommended during handling.

Other – Do not eat, drink or smoke until after washing. Wash

thoroughly after handling. Applications of approved barrier

creams may prove useful. Contaminated clothes are to be

laundered before re-use.

11 TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Health Effects:

Acute

– Corrosive by all exposure routes.

Swallowed:

May cause corrosion to gastro-intestinal tract,

abdominal cramps, vomiting and/or diarrhoea.

Eye:

The material should not be allowed to contact the eyes.

Corrosive to the eyes on contact. Will cause conjunctivitis,

corneal burns and ulceration that may lead to loss of sight.

Skin:

The material is corrosive to the skin. Repeated or

prolonged contact with the skin can cause dermatitis. (Avoid

skin contact).

Inhaled:

Avoid breathing vapour, spray or fumes. Will cause

irritation to the respiratory system. May cause coughing. May

cause dizziness. Harmful if inhaled.

Health Effects -

Chronic

: May be a slight allergen under chronic

local application. Kidney damage may occur after repeated

over-exposure.

Toxicity data: d-Limonene: oral LD50 (rat) = 4400 mg/kg

dermal LD50 (rabbit) = 2000 mg/kg
