What is 2020 Gloss?

2020 GLOSS is a water-borne acrylic floor finish that dries on the floor to form a glossy, durable film which both protects and beautifies the floor. 2020 GLOSS utilises the latest polymer technology.

How Does It Work?

2020 GLOSS dries to form a colourless, tough modified acrylic, metal cross-linked film which has an outstanding gloss level and very high degree of scratch repair when burnished.

For Use On…

2020 GLOSS is a super glossy sealer for vinyl tiles, linoleum and timber floors. It can also be used on marble and terrazzo floors that have first been sealed with FIRST BASE Sealer. 2020 GLOSS is based on a new advanced polymer which provides improved durability for use in supermarkets where it buffs up easily under UHS buffing machines to provide a crystal clear, dazzling gloss. Floors coated with 2020 GLOSS achieve peak gloss after only one or two buffs and they retain their sparkle through the day because of the toughness of the new polymer.

2020 GLOSS also offers the possibility of being buffed by gas or electric buffers from 400 to over 2000 rpm due to its high burnish response. 2020 GLOSS is colourless, non-slip and mark resistant. It may be used on its own, but we recommend the use of a basecoat: FIRST BASE on terrazzo and MASTERPIECE on vinyl.

Environmental Care

2020 GLOSS conforms with all statutory environmental requirements. It is based on safe ingredients selected to perform efficiently so there is no waste or damage. 2020 GLOSS is water based and non-flammable. 2020 GLOSS containers will be cleaned and reused if returned to Agar Cleaning Systems Pty Ltd., significantly reducing plastic usage and waste. They can also be recycled.

Slip Resistance

2020 GLOSS passes the Slip Resistance Test under dry conditions as specified in AS/NZS 4586-1999. It gives a mean Dynamic Coefficient of friction of 0.70 which is well above the minimum requirement of 0.40.

Quality

The design, manufacture and supply of all Agar chemical products is controlled by the Agar Quality Management System which is registered and externally audited by SAI Global as complying with the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 "Quality Management Systems – Requirements".

Application

Remove adhesive, built-up sealer or wax and other soilage using ULTRASTRIP, TAKE-OFF or STR-36. Thick, old build-ups can best be removed using Agar STR-36 stripper. New floors should always be stripped prior to sealing. Whilst a new floor looks clean, it is covered in a protective film added at the time of manufacture. New floor sealer will not adhere to this film, so new floors must be stripped.

Rinse floor, allow to dry, burnish floor then fringe mop to remove dust.

Apply 2 thin coats of basecoat using either a fringemop or bucket mop. (Note: MASTERPIECE is recommended for vinyl tiles, FIRST BASE for marble and terrazzo. For an extra high gloss the floor may be buffed when these first 2 coats are dry.)

Next apply, 2 coats of 2020 GLOSS making a total of 4 coats. After 1 to 7 days, apply 2 more coats of 2020 GLOSS. This film of 6 coats will provide a sound foundation for protecting the flooring and will give an excellent depth of shine.

Maintain floor by cleaning with AUTOSCRUB, SYMPOL, or SCRUB „‟SHINE and dry buffing or spray-buffing. Softer pads with no natural hair-fibres are preferred.

Re-coat heavy traffic areas when required. This will ensure a shiny, beautiful and long-wearing coating.

Worn films may be scrubbed off using FLORPREP at1:20 with blue pads and may then be recoated with 2020 GLOSS after buffing and sweeping.

Do not apply any sealer to a very cold floor (9ºC or less). If application is unavoidable in very cold or humid weather, lay very thin coats one hour apart.
